Notes: How does God money? Notes: Matthew 6: 21-24 (NLT) Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. Notes: Why does the church talk so much about money? Notes: Isn’t my money… mine? Notes: Psalm 50:12 (NLT) If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it. Notes: My = My Notes: What does God of me? Notes: Leviticus 27:30, 32 (NLT) “One-tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD and must be set apart to him as holy. Count off every tenth animal from your herds and flocks and set them apart for the LORD as holy. Tithe = 10% Notes: Does the of the tithe still apply? Notes: Luke 11:41-42 (CEV) If you would only give what you have to the poor, everything you do would please God. You Pharisees are in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your gardens, such as mint and rue. But you cheat people, and you don’t love God. You should be fair and kind to others and still give a tenth to God. Notes: Is it okay to give my tithe somewhere else of the church? Notes: 1 Corinthians 9:13-14 (NLT) Don’t you realize that those who work in the temple get their meals from the offerings brought to the temple? And those who serve at the altar get a share of the sacrificial offerings. In the same way, the Lord ordered that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it. Notes: Shouldn’t be poor? Notes: Numbers 18: 25-26 (NLT) The LORD also told Moses, “Give these instructions to the Levites: When you receive from the people of Israel the tithes I have assigned as your allotment, give a tenth of the tithes you receive—a tithe of the tithe—to the LORD as a sacred offering. Notes: It’s good to give beyond the church in addition to the tithe. Should I to tithe until I’m in better shape? Notes: 2 Corinthians 9:10-13 (NLT) For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. Notes: The question is not: Are you 10%? The question is: Are you God with 100%? Notes: Is debt ? Notes: Proverbs 22: 7 (NLT) Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Is it wrong to pursue as a Christian? Notes: Ephesians 1:3 (NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
